Our medical school is part of a medical education research collaborative called ISTEP (Innovative Strategies for Transforming the Education of Physicians). We are one of a number of medical schools from across the country who are participating in a very important study to assess and evaluate the medical school learning environment. The learning environment provides the context within which the skills and abilities you have interact with the educational philosophy and curriculum of the school. It is through this process that we help you become a competent and compassionate physician. Our school has decided to participate in this project because we need to better understand how students, faculty, and the institution shape the educational experience. This is a very important issue for our school. We are committed to this study because the information we gain will assist us in evaluating and improving the educational experience for you and your classmates.
